Veil

A large-scale warp weighted loom weaving

Veil reaches for childlike comfort, the feeling of being held by something made for the sole purpose of softening the world. The piece is a compounding of layers, naturally dyed and woven like the rugs of my childhood but of a completely different world. Veil’s layers are rooted in this place and time, its colors harvested from my garden, entwined by my hands that have no deep knowledge of this ancient method of production. Here is one way to make a home - to create a comfort from your past with the materials of your present. Veil has been installed at Yuan Ru Gallery and at the Bellevue Arts Museum Community Education Gallery.
