Understory

A site-specific installation for Plantasia, a group show at Slip Gallery put on by ArtMa and curated by Tamar Alsberg

Understory links my ongoing obsession with the color green and its variations to place and season. The materials for this piece were dyed with flowers and plants grown at my previous home, a place that nurtured my family for eight years. They serve as a reminder of the summer, sun, warmth, and the cycle of growing seasons that yielded the plants that made these colors. As with a forest, there are so many shades of green contained in these ribbons. Understory is a full year distilled into a set of hues.
